William SichelAfter competing in the world’s highest ultra marathon in Ladakh, Kashmir, William Sichel has moved on to his next challenge and is currently involved in this weekend's (19 and 20 September) Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour track race at Tooting Bec in London.  Â

Orkney-based Sichel, a former winner of this event in 1996, will use the race as a vital training exercise in the lead up to the upcoming 48 hour indoor challenge in Norway in November.

Despite his exertions in tackling the Himalayas, where he was advised to stop prior to finishing, Sichel will be part of a field that includes 45 of the top ultra runners across the world this weekend.

Commenting on his autumn schedule, Sichel said: “The Norwegian race is going to be a huge challenge for me with numerous records to go for so I'm going to use Tooting to practice my pacing and see how long I can hold a planned pace for.”

The Sri Chinmoy race is part of Sichel’s project165.com, in which he aims to set 165 ultra running records before his 65th birthday on October 1, 2018. More information on which is available here
