Organisers of the City of Salford 10K have announced that Europeâs leading sportswear and equipment retailer, Decathlon, will be the official sponsor of the race on Sunday 6 September. The event has become one of the leading 10k in the north west and is expected to attract over 3,000 runners to Salford Quays next month.
The arrangement follows on from Decathlon sponsoring last monthâs We Love Manchester 10K â also organised by Sports Tours International â and once again the retailer will have a strong presence on race day. Moving from the plaza between The Lowry and The Lowry Outlet, the course takes runners through closed roads to Broadway, MediaCityUK,passes the BBC North offices before crossing the bridge into Trafford Park.
Alex Jones from Decathlon Stockport commented: âThe atmosphere and community spirit amongst the runners and spectators at the We Love Manchester 10k was fantastic, so we welcomed the opportunity to get involved with the City of Salford 10K.
âThese events are the perfect match for Decathlon. The inclusive nature and the positive community impact they generate through raising money for good causes echoes the Decathlon brand values. Our purpose of âmaking sport accessible to the manyâ is realised through these events and we are pleased to be a part of them.â
Entries for the race are still open; registration details are available here.Â
