Cardiff 10KNext month will see the Cardiff 10K celebrate its 30th year with organisers predicting the event will record its highest turnout in history. Known for its fast and flat profile, the 10k is regarded as one of the top ten races in the UK and has raised a substantial amount of money for charity since its inception thirty years ago.Â

After restrictions enforced a route change last year, the event will return to its original course, which will see runners passing through the streets of the city centre and Bute Park. The race is organised by leading charity, Kidney Wales, who are calling for Kidney Wales fundraisers to run on behalf of the charity on the race day.

Last year’s event saw over 4300 runners take part with Cardiff AAC’s Jon Hopkins leading the field home in a close contest with Peter Huck. Hopkins edged it by two seconds to cross the line in 30:22, with third place Tom Nerson also close behind (30:28). Rachel Felton secured top billing in the female competition in 34:14, with Lauren Deadman in second (34:45).

For those interested in taking part in Cardiff’s 30th anniversary event, further registration details are available here. Entry is priced at £26.25, or £23.50 for affiliated runners.Â
