Local Coach Development Programme Regional Technical Days

Helping to develop your technical knowledge of athletics events

The Regional Technical Days are a series of workshops taking place in six different locations around the country over the weekends of the 7th or 8th November 2015 and 19th & 20th March 2016.
Martin Rush, England Athletics Head of Coaching and Athlete Development, said, “These workshops will address important topics and provide a good opportunity to meet up with others coaches, both within event group and from other events. We look forward to seeing you there.”
Information on the locations and how to book on these workshops will be on www.ulearnathletics.com from September 2015.

Who can attend these Regional Technical Days?

All athletics coaches who want to develop their technical understanding can attend, but the day is specifically targeted at Athletics Coach, Coaching in Running Fitness and existing Level 2 coaches. Level 3 coaches and others who have previously been involved with the LCDP and benefited from the technical curriculum are encouraged to access new event groups and refresh their technical knowledge.

The aim of the Regional Technical workshops:

To deliver technical ‘what to coach’ content, which provides coaches with the key principles to consider for Sprints, Endurance, Jumps and Throws. These workshops will build on the technical content contained on the Athletics Coach or Coach in Running Fitness qualifications. The content will be delivered by highly experienced National Coach Mentors and National Coach Development Programme coaches.

Regional Technical Days content

Delivered as part of a full days offering of Coach Development, these days will include a two-hour workshop covering Psychology, Nutrition, Pole Vault or Hammer (coaches’ choice, where available).
These sessions will be followed by a four-hour Technical Specific workshops (three hours of which are practical) covering one of the following topics:
